It's been way too long since I last wrote. The Chico Etsy Team fizzled, and I haven't sewn a stitch since the holidays. :( In fact, I've put all sewing items out of sight so I could focus on getting through the CPA exam. Last Saturday, I sat for the first of four exams. More than a hundred hours of review went into preparing for the exam, and I still did not feel totally confident on exam day; however, I made it through and won't be so nervous for the next one. My next exam is scheduled for May 22. The prep course I'm taking is awesome! Not only did Roger's CPA Review, review material expected to appear on the exam, but it also provided me with some great tips on time management and test taking strategies. I tend to suffer from test anxiety, and with the help of the review course, I went into the exam quite calm. The course has far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is planning on sitting for the CPA exam. :)

Well, I hope to post again soon. If not, it's because my head is lost in numbers, and I might not find it until the last exam is finished. ;)

A Stitch in Time

For those who happen to stumble upon this blog and are wondering if this is the same Christine who owned A Stitch in Time in Chico, CA, the answer is yes. As you can see, I'm still alive & kicking. First, I want to thank those of you who have been faithful clients over the years. I miss visiting with you & hearing about the happenings in your life. My decision to switch careers did not come from any single reason, but from a number of things, which all pointed to the needed change. I will always love sewing, & as you can see, I can't keep totally away from it. It's mostly a hobby now. Something I do to unwind after work, but I'm also having fun selling a few of my creations through my online store Christine Designs. I've joined a team of other local artisans who sell on Etsy.com, which you can find by typing chicoteam into the search bar.

If you're interested, here's a little more of what I've been up to: In December 2006, I graduated from Chico State with a degree in Accounting & Management Information Systems. Shortly after, I landed a job as an office manager for a construction & property management company. Yes, I enjoy crunching numbers & managing an office about as much as I enjoy sewing. Call me crazy, but it's a fact. I've always been a number cruncher & organizer. It's not much of a change from managing a tailoring business. I officially moved out of my downtown location in August of this year. In November, it would have marked 11 years in the building. Yes, I do miss my sewing room & office, but I wasn't spending enough time there to justify the expense. Now my stash & equipment are spread between a 10x10 storage unit & the nooks & crannies of my house. My poor family, bless their hearts, are being good sports about all my stuff. I keep assuring them I have a plan to thin it out. That about sums it up! If you are still reading this, thanks! Shoot me an email sometime. It would be great to hear from you! :-D

Hello! My name is Christine, & I enjoy creating & collecting beautiful things! I started this blog sometime ago, but I haven't thought about it until recently. While pulling together all my resources, I figured out it might be a good way for me to share my craft & sewing skills with others. As this blog develops, I will be sharing works of some artisans as well as my own. For now you can click on my blog list to see some of my favorites. These are local artisans from Northern, CA. Delightful people with great talent! As for my own creations, you can find a sneak peek of them in the left column of this post. In the coming weeks, I hope to add more items as well as some sewing supplies & patterns.

I also enjoy buying & selling on eBay & half.com. I have a few used books & music for sale, including craft books! If you're interested, just click on the Half.com link in the left column and it will direct you to my listings. You may have to refresh the page for the book list to appear. At the bottom of this blog, you will find some books from my personal bookshelf that are not for sale, but I recommend reading. I have them listed on a neat website called LibraryThing.com. Where book lovers can share their thoughts on books they've read. The list is not anywhere near completion, & I will be adding more books as time moves forward. That's it for now!
